A little bit of Madurai in every detail
Honey-coloured granite from the Nagamalai hills, stone slabs from abandoned textile mills, ornate Chettinad doors and 18th
century columns salvaged from old traditional homes were carefully integrated into the architecture of the Club.
The material for the windows and doors were cast from bronze and carefully selected wood art, and the ceilings lined
with handloom cotton tapestries.
An old temple cart, preserved skillfully as the source of a gurgling fountain is still centerpiece of the inner courtyard.
In short, the Madurai Club was a historic-architectural masterpiece.
